We all love a good festival and what could be better than listening to your favourite tunes by night and running with like-minded people during the day. There has been a proliferation of running/multi activity festivals. Here are 5 of the best both local and further afield. Let me know if you book any of them – it would be great to cross over on some!
22 – 24th May, Windsor Great park
Races range from 2.5km to half marathon and take you along exclusive routes with 3 days of running and music. They have top bands, DJs, inspirational talks and a large wellness programme. There is something for everyone at this festival.
31st May – 2nd June, Bowood house, Wiltshire.
The line up hasn’t been announced yet but the major draw is the big names in running and music – Steve Cram, Colin Jackson, Paula Radcliffe, Christine Ohuruogo and Jo Pavey were all involved, and musicians that played at the event included Razorlight, Reef, The Coral, Faithless and Olly Murs. I know a number of people who went to this and only had good things to say.
15th – 17th May, Keswick in the Lake district.
This one is more of a multi- sport theme and has something for the open water swimmers, cyclists and hikers in our midst. It has triathlon, open water and junior aquathon races to name a few.
2-5th July, Gower Peninsular, Brecon Beacons.
It claims it was the first running festival! With activities like Run to Coasteering, Run to Rock Climbing and Run to Surf on the programme, there’s plenty of opportunity to try something new. After completing guided trail routes from 3km to 55km, festival-goers can relax in a wood-fired hot tub – nice!
A little further afield:
2-6th September, Faroe Islands.
Alongside the races, festival-goers have exclusive access to 4-nights of festival parties with live music & international DJs. Off-grid adventure parties include a party on the beach featuring a DJ and hot tubs, and a party at an abandoned lighthouse. Adventure activities on offer as part of the festival include coasteering, cold-water surfing, hiking, guided runs, wild swimming, sailing & rock climbing, taking place in the wildest and most remote areas of the islands.
