I have always loved sport and I was brought up in an active family. Whilst at school I played in as many teams as possible and loved the camaraderie and fun of being part of a team. My love of sport continued and became more serious when I went to university and discovered rowing. Through rowing I uncovered a part of me that thrived on competition…not necessarily with others, but rather with myself. I developed a thirst to improve and be the best I could.

The arrival of my first two children and moving to Sydney meant my sporty pursuits had to take a back seat for a while. However, it wasn’t long before my yearning to get back into sport resurfaced and I found running to be a quick and easy solution to shedding the post baby pounds. I started with 10km runs and sprint triathlons and found I really enjoyed the sense of achievement and freedom these gave me.

When we moved back from Sydney I began to look around for something different. It was then that I watched a program about ultra running. I entered the MDS on the spot and was hooked. I now find myself setting the most ridiculous challenges, and loving the thrill of seeing just how far I can go.
